Michael Hollingsworth
September 8, 1956 - October 20, 2021

Michael Hollingsworth (65), of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. A loving husband, father, brother, and friend, Mike will be sorely missed.

Born September 8, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, Mike was raised by his mother, Florence Hollingsworth. The third of her four children, Mike distinguished himself early in life as a talented basketball player, earning a scholarship to UC Irvine. He played there until he received his mission call to Belgium Brussels, where Mike served from 1975 to 1977, learned fluent French, and developed an affinity for religieuse and other french pastries.

Upon returning to the United States, Mike transferred to Brigham Young University, where he met his sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Deborah Ginos. Mike and Debbie were married in the Los Angeles Temple on September 6, 1978. Mike’s love and devotion for Debbie was deep, endless, and a source of inspiration to all. They were a formidable team and each other’s best friends.

Together they welcomed their first child, Jessica, into the family in 1980. Rebecca would join the family in 1981, and their family continued to grow with the addition of Jason (1982), Pamela (1984), Marissa (1986), Angela (1989) and Christina (1991). Mike's love for his wife and children was boundless.

As a young father, Mike started his own construction business. He had a successful career building and remodeling beautiful and spacious homes throughout the west, including the residence that he and Debbie have called home in Nampa, Idaho, since 2003. It was not uncommon for Mike to bring along Debbie and the kids to the construction sites to work along-side him, and to this day it is a favorite past-time of the kids.

Mike was a man of faith. He served for years in his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teaching, ministering, and in many leadership roles. His generosity and sincerity shone bright in his service just as they shone bright in all aspects of his life.

Mike loved his country, the Fourth of July being one of his favorite holidays. The annual firework displays he created delighted his family, particularly his grandchildren. Summers were a fun time with annual boating trips to Lake Mohave with family and friends. Legendary stories spring from these happy times and are cherished by all.

A life-long learner, Mike completed a degree in Construction Management from Boise State University in 2010. His professors told him repeatedly that his industry knowledge and expertise were so extensive that he should be the one teaching class.

Mike had a larger-than-life personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Beloved by family and friends, he always had a great and winning smile. Tender-hearted, famously good with kids of all ages, Mike was forever young-at-heart. And he was fearless. He enjoyed cliff jumping, boating, white-water rafting, hunting and all around adventuring.

Of all the many accomplishments in Mike's life, he was proudest of his family. He and Debbie raised successful, smart, compassionate, brave, problem-solvers. Mike loved each and every one of his children fiercely. Mike had a big heart, which he flexed with the addition of children-in-law and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all.

Mike worked hard all of his life and has now found peace and rest. He was preceded in death by his mother Florence Hollingsworth and his father-in-law Donald Ginos. We know they are all out playing golf in heaven together now.

Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie Hollingsworth, his children: Jessica Hollingsworth, Rebecca Pike, Jason Hollingsworth, Pamela Huang, Marissa Schmidt, Angela Hollingsworth, and Christina Hollingsworth, fourteen grandchildren, brothers, John Hollingsworth and Harry Avis, and sister, Susan Nelson.
